Rachel Norman, B.A., M.Ed.
“Discovering the truth about ourselves is a lifetime's work, but it's worth the effort.”- Fred Rogers
Rachel Norman’s journey to counselling took a roundabout path. After her undergraduate degree in psychology in 2000, she taught English as a second language in Japan and Taiwan for several years and became a jewellery artist while overseas. After nearly a decade, she found her way back to the field of psychology through research at Nipissing University (NU) in 2014, and also through other experience in peer support programming, and later on as a psychology and child and family studies laboratory instructor.
She began her master’s degree in counselling psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2017. Since that time, she has gained experience and training in individual counselling, group counselling, psychoeducation, and assessment. She primarily works with adults and trauma exposed professionals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, chronic pain, as well as post-traumatic stress due to an occupational stress injury or physical injury. The approaches she uses include cognitive, behavioural, and mindfulness-based as well as evidence-based approaches for trauma treatment.
Rachel is working towards becoming a Psychological Associate and looks forward to continuing to provide clients with a warm and friendly atmosphere where they can be empowered to reach their therapeutic goals. Her practice is supervised by Dr. Beaulac.
